Something to Brighten Up a Haiti Orphanage!

I thought I would surprise the orphanage with a Hanging Haiti ‘We Love You!’ (On Vous Aime) Fabric Dolly Mural! Being an artist I couldn’t imagine my home without paintings on the walls to brighten up the place …. make it cozy …. make it mine. But canvas and paint can be so easily damaged. I wanted to give the orphanage something that could be taken with them if they ever had to move … something I could make from what I had in my home…..

Haiti Fundraiser

Hi Everyone:
I'm new here but so interested to join because I lived in Haiti for a year and really believe in the people of Haiti.

I'm organising a fundraiser in Kitcher Waterloo, Ontario to benefit relief efforts in Haiti, and it's going to be an amazing event! I really encourage any of you who can come to come.

Up and coming hip-hop artist Little Shane is bringing years of indie experience to performing and MCing the event, while the shining new talent of Air Blaq and Far from Rich joining us means our audience will meet the new rising stars of such diverse genres as hip hop and folk. With such talented artists donating their time, this is not an event to miss! Multicultural diversity is the theme of this fundraiser, with Aboriginal dancers and singers also joining us in the mix with folk bands and reggae artists to round the day out. With food and vendors, there’s something for everyone at this event.

Come join us this Saturday February 27th, at First United Church in uptown Waterloo, 16 William Street from 1PM until 9PM and meet the new rising stars Kitchener Waterloo and the surrounding area has nurtured.

Tickets are only $5 per family and no one who is unable to pay will be turned away! Additional giving opportunities will be available at the event to support established non profits of World Vision, the Red Cross, Rooftops Canada, and King’s Kids orphanage.

So come out, meet all the talent K.W. has to offer and show your support to the people of Haiti!

Sewing Dolls for Haiti Orphans

Hi, I'm working with The Abundant Ground Foundation (NY) sewing Dolls for Haiti Orphans.

If you'd like to join in the fun, (or know someone who would) ...
I have made a simple Free Rag Dolly pattern, all the steps photographed, and a couple of video tutorials also.
It’s made to use up your left over material from past projects and easy enough so that parents can do it with their children.

Thanks so Much!
Sarah

(This was featured on Larry King tonight on CNN, so do not be skeptical.)

The Dream.

My Dream is to change the world for the better. I currently think that our society is very selfish, materialistic and disconnected. This world is lacking so much love, unity, art, creation and faith. I feel as though people have forgotten the meaning of unconditional love, true happiness, true beauty, nature & so much more. Im here to remind the world. All it takes is one. This year, Im dedicating an entire year to the world. Im dedicating 365 of my life with acts of goodness for humanity. Everyday I will blog about my expierence of that day in the hopes of inspiring the world to do better & be on the pursuit of changing peoples lives!I know all it takes is passion, drive, a warm heart, one HUGE Dream, & I will never STOP!

Message From President Obama

On Tuesday, a catastrophic earthquake struck near Port-au-Prince, Haiti. The full extent of the damage is still being assessed, but the death toll -- already in the thousands -- is climbing fast.

This is the worst earthquake to hit the area in more than 200 years. Entire communities have been ripped apart and as many as 3 million people have been directly affected, including tens of thousands of American citizens who are in Haiti.

Our neighbors in Haiti are racing to confront the enormous devastation -- and the OFA community can help.

Click here for more information about essential relief efforts and ways you can help today.

Footage is pouring in of homes collapsing, Haitians carrying injured family members, and hospitals being overrun in what was already the poorest nation in the Western Hemisphere.

I have directed my administration to respond with a swift, coordinated, and aggressive effort to save lives. Personnel from the United States and our partners in the international community are on the ground in damaged areas right now, working side by side with the Haitian people. They're providing much-needed food, water, and sanitation supplies, saving lives and helping local communities start to rebuild.

Despite the fact that we are experiencing tough times here at home, I encourage those who can to reach out and help. It's in times like these that we must show the kind of compassion and humanity that has defined the best of our national character for generations.

As this story continues to unfold, I hope you will continue to keep the people of Haiti in your thoughts and prayers, as well as the many Haitian-Americans who have done so much to enrich our country and who are worried about friends and loved ones in this time of need.

Thank you,

President Barack Obama
